One developer, building in the open.
Zelares started as a personal project. I kept switching between simple Markdown editors and heavier team tools, and never found one that did both well, so I built it myself. It's still developed by one person today, with every decision made to keep the product simple and honest about what it can do.
Building solo keeps things focused, but Zelares grows stronger with more people involved. If you have ideas, feedback, or want to collaborate, I'd genuinely like to hear from you.

Keep data open and portable
All content is stored in standard Markdown so it can be accessed, exported, and used outside the product at any time. The goal is to make sure your work is not tied to a single platform or system, and can move freely as your needs change.
Support real time collaboration
When people work together, changes appear immediately so everyone stays in sync without needing manual refreshes or version handling. The experience is designed to feel continuous rather than separated into edits and updates.
Design for focus
The interface is kept minimal so attention stays on writing and thinking instead of navigating tools or settings. Every element is added carefully to avoid unnecessary distraction or cognitive load.
Prefer simplicity through removal
Instead of adding more features, the product tries to stay small and intentional by removing anything that does not clearly support the core writing experience. This helps keep the system easier to understand and use over time.
Stay out of the way
The system is designed to be present only when needed, so it does not interrupt the user’s workflow. Most of the time, it stays quiet and lets the user focus on their work without interference.
